What Is It?

Pay To Read means that you are paid to read emails. You sign up to a program, and emails are sent to you. Every time you read an email, you earn money. A lot of programs have other earning opportunities, such as paid to search, or paid to sign-up, but we'll just deal with the PTR for the moment.

How Do I Start?

All you need is an email account and an hour each day. You will get hundreds of emails every day, so it's a good idea to have a free email account to avoid your inbox becoming full and those important money-making emails bouncing. Yahoo or Lycos are two possibilities.

Next, open up a Paypal, Egold or Moneybookers account. The most trusted is Paypal (which I use). This is the account in which you will be paid. Opening an account is very simple and secure. Word of warning, if you do use Paypal, make sure you use a personal account and not a business or premier account, otherwise you will incur fees - that's not going help with the money making process!

Finally, make sure you have some sort of virus protection on your computer. Sadly, there is always some little gremlin online who gets a kick out of creating a virus in some of the emails. AVG is a program I recommend.  I would also advise you have some sort of spyware protection such as Adware. Sadly, spyware does happen with PTR, but with proper protection and regular scans, this can be avoided.

Is It Too Good To Be True?

Some programs are, yes. If you're getting emails offering $10 to read etc, then it's a scam. Trust me, you'll open those emails and get nothing for your trouble. Remember, those programs with a realistic payout are the genuine ones. Those offering £25000 or more, are just wasting your time.

How Many Programs Should I Join?

That is entirely up to you. It depends on the time you have available. Some people have made the mistake of joining 40 programs or more and have been snowed under with emails, with very little time to do anything else. I personally, am with 10 programs, until I feel able to join more. It is a matter of preference and the time you have available.
